| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |

| 6 | 7 | | family and friends of Richard Rodriguez of Houston, who passed away |

| 7 | 8 | | on May 14, 2017, at the age of 64; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Rick Rodriguez was born on June 4, 1952, in Houston, |

| 9 | 10 | | and he grew up in the Near Northside neighborhood, where he remained |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | a proud resident for most of his life; he attended Jeff Davis High |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1970; and |

| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Rodriguez participated |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in numerous political campaigns by walking the block, hanging |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | signs, and working the polls at Moody Park and his alma mater; he |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | was also a valued congregant of Holy Name Catholic Church, which he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | served as an usher and as a volunteer cook for church bazaars, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | he gave generously of his time and energy to the Knights of Columbus |

| 18 | 19 | | Council No. 8247; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed dancing and |

| 19 | 20 | | listening to Tejano music; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An easygoing and fun-loving man, Rick Rodriguez |

| 21 | 22 | | possessed a generosity of spirit that expressed itself in myriad |

| 22 | 23 | | ways, and he will long be remembered with deep affection by all who |

| 23 | 24 | | had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Rodriguez and |
