| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Eustacio Rodriguez Sr. of Austin, who died on May 13, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 82; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, "Ernest" Rodriguez was born in Bartlett on December |

| 9 | 10 | | 1, 1934, to Eustacio and Fortunata Rodriguez, and he grew up in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Austin; he met his future wife, Hope, at Woolworth's in 1956, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the couple shared their lives for nearly six decades, until his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | death; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Rodriguez |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | served in the National Guard for 16 years, and during the Cuban |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Missile Crisis, he was called to active duty in the U.S. Army; he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | also enjoyed a successful career as an optician that spanned more |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | than 40 years; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith, Mr. Rodriguez was |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | coached the congregation's softball team; known affectionately as |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | "Postero" to his friends, he delighted in simple pleasures, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | especially the time he spent with his children and grandchildren; |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | he was also an avid, lifelong supporter of The University of Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Longhorns and attended hundreds of games and events over the course |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | of his life; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, A loving husband and a devoted father and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | grandfather, Ernest Rodriguez lived a rich and purposeful life, and |

| 28 | 29 | | those who were fortunate enough to share in his affection and |

| 29 | 30 | | friendship will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |
