 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Christine Reiser-Robbins has been presented with a
 2016-2017 Daniel E. Kilgore Local History Award by the Nueces
 County Historical Society; and
 WHEREAS, Established in 2004, this accolade is annually
 bestowed on individuals who have rendered distinguished service in
 advancing the NCHS mission to promote and preserve the history of
 Nueces County and the Coastal Bend; and
 WHEREAS, The late Dan Kilgore was regarded as one of the
 state's foremost lay historians; in addition to amassing an
 extensive personal collection of Texana, which he donated to Texas
 A&M University--Corpus Christi, he authored numerous books,
 newspaper articles, and reviews on the subject of South Texas
 history and also spoke frequently on local history topics before
 area groups; and
 WHEREAS, A truly deserving recipient of this honor, Dr.
 Reiser-Robbins enjoys a rewarding career as an assistant professor
 of anthropology at Texas A&M University--Kingsville; in addition to
 fulfilling the duties of her busy professional life, she has given
 generously of her time and energies in behalf of NCHS and her
 community at large; and
 WHEREAS, This notable Texan has demonstrated a profound
 commitment to the stewardship of local history, and her
 contributions will help current and future generations of Coastal
 Bend residents to more fully understand and appreciate their rich
 heritage; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Christine Reiser-Robbins on her
 receipt of a 2016-2017 Daniel E. Kilgore Local History Award from
 the Nueces County Historical Society and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Reiser-Robbins as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
