| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Renee Rodriguez-Betancourt was sworn in as the judge |

| 6 | 7 | | of State District Court 449 at a ceremony in Edinburg on January 1, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, becoming the youngest district judge currently serving in the |

| 8 | 9 | | State of Texas; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An Edinburg native, Ms. Rodriguez-Betancourt |

| 10 | 11 | | graduated from Edinburg High School in 1999, and she went on to earn |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | a bachelor's degree at The University of Texas--Pan American and a |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | law degree from The University of Texas at Austin; she established a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | law practice in her hometown in 2012; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Elected in May 2016, Judge Rodriguez-Betancourt |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | will serve a four-year term as the district judge presiding over |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | cases concerning juveniles in Hidalgo County; in preparation, she |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | visited juvenile courts in several counties across the Lone Star |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | State, including Cameron, Bexar, and El Paso, where she examined |

| 19 | 20 | | the practices of veteran juvenile judges; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Rodriguez-Betancourt has |

| 21 | 22 | | greatly benefited from the love and support of her husband, J. R. |

| 22 | 23 | | Betancourt, and their three daughters; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Judge Rodriguez-Betancourt brings to the 449th |

| 24 | 25 | | District Court her professionalism, legal expertise, and |

| 25 | 26 | | unwavering commitment to excellence, and she may indeed take pride |

| 26 | 27 | | in all that she has accomplished in her career thus far as she takes |
