H.R. No. 2462
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Graduation from high school is one of life's pivotal
milestones, and Matthew Garcia is celebrating that significant
achievement as a member of the Class of 2017 at the Americas High
School Libertas Academy in El Paso; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia is among the students who have completed
their secondary education in the academy's Advanced Academics
Program, which features specialized curricula focused on law,
government, and public administration; and
WHEREAS, The son of Clarissa and Ramon Garcia, Mr. Garcia is
a member of the National Technical Honor Society, the National
Honor Society, and DECA; a champion debater, he participated in the
Texas Forensic Association competition at the state level; he was
involved in DECA state competition and in National Speech & Debate
Association contests as well, and he was twice named to the Academic
All-District football team; moreover, he is the recipient of an
Andalusite Award scholarship from The University of Texas at El
Paso; and
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this
outstanding young Texan, and it is a pleasure to join his family and
friends in recognizing him as he embarks on a future bright with
promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew Garcia on the occasion of
his graduation from the Americas High School Libertas Academy and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
