H.R. No. 2497 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Kate Girvin has enjoyed an outstanding record of success at the Americas High School Libertas Academy in El Paso; and WHEREAS, Currently in her sophomore year, Ms. Girvin ranks second among the 550 students in her class and serves as secretary of the academy; she has excelled academically since her freshman year, when she claimed two Blazer Triple A Awards for her stellar work in pre-advanced placement algebra I and biology; in addition to managing a challenging course load, she finds time to participate in a number of extracurricular activities; she has excelled in science fair contests, advanced to state competition with the mock trial team, and received superior ratings for her solo and ensemble performances with the symphonic orchestra and with the marching and concert band, for which she is secretary and French horn section leader; and WHEREAS, Ms. Girvin also holds membership in the National Honor Society, Key Club, DECA, the National Technical Honor Society, and the Sierra Student Coalition; moreover, she has played a vital role in organizing events of interest to the community at large, such as a Citizenship Fair and Law Day, and she helps recruit middle school students for the Libertas program; and WHEREAS, This admirable young Texan has earned the esteem of teachers and classmates alike, and her exceptional scholastic ability and service in behalf of her fellow citizens are indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby commend Kate Girvin of the Americas High School Libertas Academy in El Paso for her many noteworthy accomplishments and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Girvin as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
