| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of William Howard Kennedy of Woodsboro on May 7, 2017, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 91; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Greatest Generation, Bill Kennedy |

| 9 | 10 | | served his country as a medic in World War II and earned the rank of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | staff sergeant; he subsequently attended the University of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Missouri, and after receiving a bachelor of journalism degree in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | 1949, he went on to enjoy a successful career in the field, working |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | as a sportswriter and as an editor for six different newspapers; in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | addition, he served as the postmaster of Woodsboro from 1967 to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 1986; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Valuing his family above all else, Mr. Kennedy was |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the proud father of seven children, Steven, Sherri, Bonnie, David, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Judi, Kevyn, and Michael, and with the passing years, his life was |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | further enriched by his 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and 3 great-great-grandchildren; he was also dedicated to his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | community, and he became known by many in South Texas for his |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | letters to the editor and his loyalty to the Democratic Party; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Although Bill Kennedy is deeply missed, he has left |

| 24 | 25 | | his family and friends with many cherished memories of his warmth, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | wisdom, and delightful sense of humor, and he will forever hold a |

| 26 | 27 | | special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of William Howard |

| 29 | 30 | | Kennedy and extend sincere condolences to his family and to all who |

| 30 | 31 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |
