| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bella Rubio, the county and district clerk for Real |

| 6 | 7 | | County, retired on December 31, 2016, following an exemplary public |

| 7 | 8 | | service career that has spanned two decades; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Texas, Bella Rubio is a |

| 9 | 10 | | third-generation resident of Real County; she was elected to the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | office of county and district clerk in November 1996, and she has |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | additionally acted as elections administrator for the county; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, During her five terms in office, Ms. Rubio has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | demonstrated great dedication to Real County constituents and to |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | her peers; she served as legislative committee chair of the County |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and District Clerks' Association of Texas, which named her the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | "Texas County Clerk of the Year" in 2015; moreover, she sat on the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | board of the Texas District Court Alliance, participated in several |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of the organization's committees, and served as a Region IV |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | director; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An engaged member of her community, Ms. Rubio has |

| 21 | 22 | | contributed her time and talents to many civic groups, including |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | serving on the boards and committees of such organizations as the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Eagle Booster Club, Real County Youth Development Board, and the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Real County Livestock Association; she is also a valued congregant |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | of Church in the Valley; in all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | love and support of her husband of 37 years, Pablo, her children, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Lucus and Sarah, and her grandson, Jacob; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Bella Rubio has earned the respect and admiration of |

| 29 | 30 | | her colleagues and fellow citizens, and she may indeed reflect with |

| 30 | 31 | | pride on her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Bella Rubio for her exceptional service |
