H.R. No. 252 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Richard Saathoff concluded his service as Medina County commissioner for Precinct 1 on December 31, 2016, drawing to a close a notable tenure in that office that spanned eight years; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Medina County, Mr. Saathoff graduated from Hondo High School before serving in the United States Army for three years in the 1960s; he went on to work for Medina Electric Cooperative for more than four decades, and after retiring, he further served the cooperative for nine years as a member of its board of directors; and WHEREAS, Since his election to the Medina County Commissioners Court, Mr. Saathoff has worked diligently with other members of the court to address issues facing the fast-growing county and to fairly represent the interests of his constituents; along the way, he has enjoyed the support of a fine family that includes his wife, Beckie, and their 6 children and 15 grandchildren, and he looks forward to spending more time with his loved ones on his ranch northeast of Hondo; and WHEREAS, Through his work on the commissioners court, Richard Saathoff has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to making Medina County an even better place in which to live and work, and in so doing, he has earned the respect and appreciation of countless fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby honor Richard Saathoff for his service as Medina County commissioner for Precinct 1 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Saathoff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
