| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Alvan |

| 6 | 7 | | Richard Sandoval of The Colony, who died on January 25, 2017, at the |

| 7 | 8 | | age of 72; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Richard Sandoval was born to Joseph Noe and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Guadalupe Maria Maestas Sandoval on February 17, 1944, in Brighton, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Colorado; he grew up with the companionship of nine siblings, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | from an early age, he did farm work with his family; after |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy, earning |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | several medals for his exemplary service as a Seabee in Vietnam; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Sandoval settled in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the San Francisco Bay area and worked for Ford Aerospace |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | supervising computer operators; he eventually moved to North Texas, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | where he volunteered with The Colony Police Department and joined |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the American Legion, often serving as a sergeant at arms for the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | honor and color guards at flag ceremonies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Sandoval was the devoted father of three |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | children, Alan and his wife, Allison, Jenell and her husband, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Kerry, and David and his wife, Melissa; he enjoyed 38 rewarding |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years with his wife, the former Carol Larason, and he was an |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | affectionate stepfather to her sons, Jeff and David; later in life, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | he took pleasure in welcoming many grandchildren and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | great-grandchildren into his family; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, A loving husband and father and a proud veteran, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Richard Sandoval lived a full and generous life, and he will forever |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | be a source of inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alvan Richard |

| 33 | 34 | | Sandoval and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many |

| 34 | 35 | | friends; and, be it further |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
