| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Ofilia |

| 6 | 7 | | Barrera Dominguez of Edroy, who passed away on March 27, 2017, at |

| 7 | 8 | | the age of 85; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Reynosa, Mexico, on March 20, 1932, the |

| 9 | 10 | | former Ofilia Barrera was the daughter of Guadalupe Valdez and |

| 10 | 11 | | Felix Barrera; she moved to the United States at the age of five and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | grew up in Edroy with six sisters and five brothers; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, She married Carlos Castro Dominguez in 1948, and the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | couple shared a fulfilling relationship of 50 years before his |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | death in 1999; she was a loving mother to her daughter, Noelia, and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | to her six sons, Alberto, Carlos, Rene, Daniel, Jaime, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Benjamin; through the years, she also knew the joy of welcoming into |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | her family 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A talented cook, Mrs. Dominguez worked in a number |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | of restaurants and liked to pamper loved ones with their favorite |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | dishes; she belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | where she was a member of the Guadalupanas; in her free time, she |

| 22 | 23 | | enjoyed going to bingo games; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Ofilia Dominguez lived a caring and purposeful life, |

| 24 | 25 | | and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ofilia Barrera |

| 28 | 29 | | Dominguez and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | friends; and, be it further |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
