| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Loren Rodney Overbo on May 6, 2016, at the age of 77; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Chester and Irene Overbo, Loren Overbo |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | was born on July 10, 1938, in LaMoure, North Dakota; he pledged with |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | the Kappa Sigma fraternity while a student at the University of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | North Dakota, where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1964; |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | two years later, he moved to Austin and began working as a systems |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs; he retired in 1997; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Overbo married the former Joan Gierszewski in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 1961, and the couple became the parents of two sons, Tim and Ron, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and two daughters, Cindy and Wendy; with the passing years, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Mr. Overbo had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include six |

| 18 | 19 | | grandchildren, James, Doug, Lia, Brandon, Phillip, and Casey, and a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | great-granddaughter, Ava; his life was further enriched by the love |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and companionship of his second wife, the former Carolyn |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Stephenson, whom he married in 2000; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A scoutmaster and a valued member of the Moose |

| 23 | 24 | | Lodge, Mr. Overbo spent his spare time pursuing a variety of |

| 24 | 25 | | outdoor activities, including hunting, camping, boating, and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | gardening; he also had a knack for woodworking and crafts, and he |

| 26 | 27 | | was a skilled mechanic and a passionate car enthusiast; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Known for his intelligence, kindness, and witty |

| 28 | 29 | | sense of humor, Loren Overbo touched countless lives during his |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | journey on this earth, and all those fortunate enough to have known |

| 30 | 31 | | him will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
