| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Portia King has been presented with a Community |

| 6 | 7 | | Builder Award by Masonic Lodge No. 856 in Joaquin; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established by the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1991, the |

| 8 | 9 | | Community Builder Award was created to recognize non-Masons who |

| 9 | 10 | | have distinguished themselves through exceptional service to their |

| 10 | 11 | | community; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, An alumna of Panola College, Portia King has enjoyed |

| 12 | 13 | | a rewarding career in nursing that has spanned more than three |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | decades; since 1996, she has worked as a licensed vocational nurse |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | for the Joaquin Independent School District, and over the course of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | her 21-year tenure, she has played an instrumental role in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | organizing many beneficial initiatives, including the Walk for |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Diabetes, Pasta for Pennies, and a summer safety program; dedicated |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | to her profession, she serves as a member of the National |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Association of School Nurses and the Texas School Nurses |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Organization; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. King enjoys the love and |

| 22 | 23 | | support of her husband, Ronald, and she takes immense pride in her |

| 23 | 24 | | two children, Millard and Rondalyn, and her two grandchildren, |

| 24 | 25 | | Lauren and Jake; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Those Texans who step forward to share their time |

| 26 | 27 | | and talents with others are indeed deserving of our admiration and |

| 27 | 28 | | gratitude, and Portia King has set an inspiring example of |

| 28 | 29 | | leadership, compassion, and service; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Portia King on her receipt of a |
