| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Julieta Brusco, a student at Incarnate Word Academy |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Launched in 1991, this annual competition |

| 10 | 11 | | challenges students from kindergarten through eighth grade to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | demonstrate their handwriting abilities by composing a "pangram," |

| 12 | 13 | | or a sentence that contains all the letters of the alphabet, which |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | is then judged based on the criteria of legibility, size, shape, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | spacing, and slant; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Julieta's penmanship earned her top marks for her |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | grade at the local and state levels and allowed her to advance to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the national semifinals, where she won first place; that |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | distinction came with a $1,000 prize, which she plans to spend on |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | books, food, and water for children in need; in preparing for this |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | contest, she greatly benefited from the guidance of her teacher |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A source of tremendous pride to her family and her |

| 23 | 24 | | school, Julieta Brusco has shown considerable skill, initiative, |

| 25 | 26 | | accomplishments surely herald a future bright with promise; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
