| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Captain Brad Chappell is retiring as an Internal |

| 6 | 7 | | Affairs Unit investigator with the Texas Parks and Wildlife |

| 7 | 8 | | Department in 2017, concluding more than three decades of service |

| 8 | 9 | | to his fellow Texans; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After completing his training with the state game |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | warden academy in 1987, Mr. Chappell began his career with the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | department in Sabine County, and in 1991 he transferred to Panola |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | County; he steadily rose through the ranks, earning promotion to |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | sergeant wildlife investigator in 2002 and later becoming one of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the first members of the Special Operations Unit; in 2013, he was |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | named a captain investigator with the Internal Affairs Unit; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Captain Chappell has been |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | responsible for investigating a wide range of cases, from illegal |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | hunting and fishing to capital murder, and he was one of the first |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | game wardens in the state to solve wildlife crimes with the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | assistance of genome experts from Texas A&M University and the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | department's forensics lab in San Marcos; moreover, he has promoted |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the mission of TPWD through his involvement with school and outdoor |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | youth programs, civic organizations, and public broadcasting |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | stations; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, One of the most decorated game wardens in state |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | history, Captain Chappell has earned well-deserved recognition |

| 27 | 28 | | from such organizations as the Shikar Safari Club, the Association |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | of Midwest Fish and Game Law Enforcement Officers, and the |

| 29 | 30 | | Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies; he is |

| 30 | 31 | | supported in all his endeavors by his loving wife of 29 years, |

| 31 | 32 | | Charmaine; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished tenure, Brad Chappell |

| 33 | 34 | | has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting natural |

| 34 | 35 | | resources and ensuring the safety of the public, and his |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | exceptional record of service to the Lone Star State truly merits |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Brad Chappell on his |
