| 6 | 7 | | Richard Butts of Lubbock, who passed away on February 28, 2017, at |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Edward Butts and Edna Mae Butts, Ron Butts |

| 9 | 10 | | was born in Conchas, New Mexico, on September 3, 1939; he lived in |

| 10 | 11 | | many places in his youth, including Las Vegas, Nevada, Honolulu, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Hawaii, and Albuquerque, New Mexico; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Butts completed his bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | pharmacy at the University of New Mexico, and after settling in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Lubbock, he worked at a number of pharmacies, including Gibson's, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Raff and Hall, Eckerd, and Albertson's; in the 1980s, he founded his |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | own pharmacy, Ron's Medicine Chest, where many customers sought out |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | his expertise; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Butts shared a fulfilling |

| 19 | 20 | | marriage of 56 years with his wife, Beatrice; he was the proud |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | father of Kym Michalik, Ken Butts, Debbie Braganza, and Carrie |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Ashley, and in later years, he became the grandfather of Jordan, |

| 22 | 23 | | Joey, and Maddie Michalik, Megan Braganza, and Avery Stangl; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Butts battled Parkinson's disease for two |

| 24 | 25 | | decades but did not let his illness define him; an avid |

| 25 | 26 | | photographer, he viewed the world through his camera lens; he |

| 26 | 27 | | recorded every gathering and preserved images from trips to Las |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and elsewhere in photo albums and slide |

| 28 | 29 | | collections; when he wanted a change of scenery, he loved to go |

| 29 | 30 | | fishing in the Colorado mountains, and he traveled to South Bend, |

| 30 | 31 | | Indiana, in 2001 to watch the University of Notre Dame play the |

| 31 | 32 | | University of Southern California; a longtime fan of the Fighting |

| 32 | 33 | | Irish, he was delighted to cheer them on twice at the Cotton Bowl as |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Although Ron Butts is deeply missed by those he left |

| 35 | 36 | | behind, they will forever treasure their memories of time spent in |
