 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The passing of Lucille Louie Gee of Houston on April
 29, 2017, at the age of 91, has brought great sadness to the family
 and many friends of this vibrant and gracious woman; and
 WHEREAS, The former Lucille Louie was born on March 9, 1926,
 in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up with four sisters, Annette, Ruth,
 Jeanette, and Sue, and four brothers, Bernard, Leonard, Harry, and
 Milton; she graduated from Englewood High School as a member of the
 National Honor Society and exchanged wedding vows with Wallace Gee
 in 1947; she moved with her husband to Houston so that he could join
 his brothers in a business venture; the couple shared nearly four
 decades of marriage until Mr. Gee's death and were the parents of
 three sons, Kent, Robert, and Paul; with the passing years,
 Mrs. Gee took special delight in doting on her granddaughter,
 Amelia; and
 WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Gee was involved with
 the Chinese American Citizens Alliance and its Miss Chinatown
 Pageant; she was also a board member of the Gee Family Association,
 a charter member of the Chinese Baptist Church, and a valued
 congregant at the Southwest Chinese Baptist Church; and
 WHEREAS, Candid and forthright, Mrs. Gee was equally admired
 for her kindness and generosity, and she found great joy in helping
 others; she often drove friends on their errands and to doctor's
 appointments, and she enjoyed taking her nieces shopping for
 special occasions; moreover, she was revered among her
 contemporaries as the unofficial "food critic" of Chinatown; and
 WHEREAS, Lucille Gee led a life that was extraordinarily rich
 in love, laughter, and friendship, and her memory will forever
 light the hearts of all those who held her dear; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lucille Louie Gee and
 extend deepest sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lucille
 Gee.
