| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 6 | 7 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and J. C. and Dorothy Smith |

| 7 | 8 | | of Buna celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on April |

| 8 | 9 | | 19, 2017; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Jasper Conley Smith Jr. and the former Dorothy Del |

| 10 | 11 | | Stanley were joined in matrimony in 1957 in Cairo Springs; over the |

| 11 | 12 | | years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | their children, Sunee Del Smith Stephens and Larkin Andrew Smith |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and his wife, Carla, as well as their grandchildren, Haley Bingham |

| 14 | 15 | | and her husband, Thomas, Taylor Smith, Shannon Stephens, and Sierra |

| 15 | 16 | | Fisher and her husband, Jefferson; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of the Jasper County community, |

| 17 | 18 | | Mr. and Mrs. Smith continue to maintain a family residence on the |

| 18 | 19 | | farmland just outside of Buna purchased by Mr. Smith's grandfather |

| 19 | 20 | | in 1911; for 20 years, they operated Double S Christmas Tree Farms |

| 20 | 21 | | on that property and on the land acquired by Mrs. Smith's |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | grandfather in Cairo Springs in 1900; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Smith retired following a notable 30-year |

| 23 | 24 | | career with NASA in Clear Lake, where he worked as a flight trainer |

| 24 | 25 | | for the Apollo and Skylab missions as well as during the early days |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | of the Space Shuttle program; Mrs. Smith was an employee of the La |

| 26 | 27 | | Porte Independent School District for two decades, serving |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | primarily as a librarian; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Smith have enjoyed six decades of |

| 29 | 30 | | abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
