H.R. No. 2650
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lucky Olivas of Lamesa High School has distinguished
herself by winning second place in the prepared speech contest at
the Business Professionals of America 2017 National Leadership
Conference, held in Orlando, Florida, May 10-14; and
WHEREAS, Business Professionals of America seeks to prepare
students for future careers in business management, office
administration, information technology, and other related fields
through the development of leadership, citizenship, academic, and
technological skills; and
WHEREAS, After excelling at the state finals, Ms. Olivas
advanced to the National Leadership Conference, where she was one
of only four students to represent Texas in the prepared speech
event; there, she impressed judges with her address regarding
entrepreneurship in the food truck industry and secured a
second-place finish; and
WHEREAS, Through her involvement in the BPA National
Leadership Conference, this admirable young Texan is building a
strong foundation for future success, and she may indeed reflect
with pride on her notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lucky Olivas on winning second
place in the prepared speech contest at the BPA 2017 National
Leadership Conference and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Olivas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
