5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The retirement of Gena Gardiner from the Highland |

6 | 7 | | Park Independent School District in 2017 provides a fitting |

7 | 8 | | opportunity to recognize her for her 14 years of dedicated service |

8 | 9 | | to the district; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gardiner began her career in education as a |

10 | 11 | | fifth-grade teacher in 1977; since joining HPISD in 2002, she has |
---|
11 | 12 | | served as a teacher and principal and, most recently, as the |
---|
12 | 13 | | assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and special |
---|
13 | 14 | | programs; in that position, she has played a key role in launching |
---|
14 | 15 | | many educational initiatives, including the Passport to Spanish |
---|
15 | 16 | | foreign-language program and the Moody Innovation Institute; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Respected and admired by her peers, Ms. Gardiner has |
---|
17 | 18 | | presented at numerous state and national conferences and |
---|
18 | 19 | | organizational meetings; she is a former president of the Texas |
---|
19 | 20 | | Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, which |
---|
20 | 21 | | recognized her hard work and commitment to excellence with a Star |
---|
21 | 22 | | Advocate Award in 2016; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Known for her dedication to supporting each Highland |

23 | 24 | | Park student from the moment they enter kindergarten until their |

24 | 25 | | graduation from high school, Gena Gardiner has helped equip |

25 | 26 | | countless young Texans with the knowledge and skills they need to |
---|
26 | 27 | | build a bright future, and she may reflect with pride on a career |

27 | 28 | | well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
