| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) |

| 6 | 7 | | is hosting a Texas Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in Austin |

| 7 | 8 | | from July 14 through 16, 2017; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This worthy organization provides compassionate |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | care to all those grieving the loss of a family member or friend who |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | died while serving in this country's armed forces or as a result of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | their service; since its establishment in 1994, it has helped more |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | than 60,000 individuals, including those who work in bereavement |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | support, such as chaplains and casualty assistance officers; its |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | services, offered both at home and abroad, are provided at no cost |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | to surviving families and loved ones; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to its survivor seminars and Good Grief |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Camps, TAPS offers a variety of other events and initiatives that |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | support those left behind by military deaths, including peer |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | mentoring, an online chat program, a suicide loss survivor program, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | wellness programs, retreats, and local groups that allow survivors |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | to come together as a community; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, TAPS is offering critical support to military |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | families who have suffered a grievous loss and to whom this nation |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | is forever indebted, and it is indeed a privilege to recognize this |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | admirable organization; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor the Tragedy Assistance Program for |

| 28 | 29 | | Survivors for its significant work and extend to all those |

| 29 | 30 | | associated with TAPS sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
