45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
67 generosity of R. Wayne Gibson of Leander, who passed away on
78 February 3, 2017, at the age of 73; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Joe and Eva Jane Gibson, Wayne Gibson was
910 born in Alvin on October 21, 1943, and he grew up on a dairy farm in
1011 Arcadia with his brother, Terry, and sister, Glenda; he loved
1112 riding his horse, Trixie, to school and raising animals, including
1213 a pet raccoon, and he won several awards at the Galveston County
1314 Fair; while earning his bachelor's degree in business
1415 administration at The University of Texas at Austin, he met his
1516 first wife, Carol Ann Sayle, and they were blessed with a son,
1617 Steve, and a daughter, Tracy; and
1718 WHEREAS, Mr. Gibson worked as a graphics specialist for IBM
1819 and then joined Xerox before starting his own companies, Kwik-Kopy,
1920 Uni-Copy, Uni-Co, Tejas Business Systems, and Lake Travis Lavender;
2021 he later embarked on a successful second career with Keller
2122 Williams Realty; and
2223 WHEREAS, In 1975, Mr. Gibson married Gail Gaston, and they
2324 teamed up on all their business ventures; they coparented
2425 harmoniously with Ms. Sayle and her husband, Larry Butler, adding
2526 their son, Tom, to the family circle; over the years, they spent
2627 many happy days on the Gulf Coast at the beach, and they traveled to
2728 Mexico, California, and Arizona; and
2829 WHEREAS, Mr. Gibson became a member of Riverbend Church in
2930 1984, and he served the congregation as a trustee, Sunday school
3031 teacher, Stephen Minister, and "choir groupie"; moreover, he took
3132 part in several ministry trips to El Salvador and was active in the
3233 Emmaus community; and
3334 WHEREAS, A devoted grandfather, Mr. Gibson took great pride
3435 in his grandchildren, Kate and Stevie Gibson, and Lexi, Carson, and
3536 Jack Geyer; he never missed a sporting event, musical production,
3637 birthday party, or graduation ceremony, and he enjoyed amusing them
3738 with his technological gadgets; a true animal lover, he cared for
3839 many dogs, cats, birds, and horses, among them his equine best
3940 friend, Chico; he was a Texas history buff as well; and
4041 WHEREAS, Wayne Gibson will be deeply missed by all who were
4142 fortunate enough to know him, but they will continue to find
4243 inspiration in his warmth, compassion, and unfailing optimism; now,
4344 therefore, be it
4445 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
4546 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of R. Wayne Gibson and
4647 extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further
4748 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4849 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4950 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wayne
5051 Gibson.
