| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and |

| 6 | 7 | | generosity of R. Wayne Gibson of Leander, who passed away on |

| 7 | 8 | | February 3, 2017, at the age of 73; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Joe and Eva Jane Gibson, Wayne Gibson was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born in Alvin on October 21, 1943, and he grew up on a dairy farm in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Arcadia with his brother, Terry, and sister, Glenda; he loved |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | riding his horse, Trixie, to school and raising animals, including |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | a pet raccoon, and he won several awards at the Galveston County |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Fair; while earning his bachelor's degree in business |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | administration at The University of Texas at Austin, he met his |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | first wife, Carol Ann Sayle, and they were blessed with a son, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Steve, and a daughter, Tracy; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gibson worked as a graphics specialist for IBM |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and then joined Xerox before starting his own companies, Kwik-Kopy, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Uni-Copy, Uni-Co, Tejas Business Systems, and Lake Travis Lavender; |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | he later embarked on a successful second career with Keller |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Williams Realty; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In 1975, Mr. Gibson married Gail Gaston, and they |

| 23 | 24 | | teamed up on all their business ventures; they coparented |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | harmoniously with Ms. Sayle and her husband, Larry Butler, adding |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | their son, Tom, to the family circle; over the years, they spent |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | many happy days on the Gulf Coast at the beach, and they traveled to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Mexico, California, and Arizona; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gibson became a member of Riverbend Church in |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | 1984, and he served the congregation as a trustee, Sunday school |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | teacher, Stephen Minister, and "choir groupie"; moreover, he took |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | part in several ministry trips to El Salvador and was active in the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Emmaus community; and |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, A devoted grandfather, Mr. Gibson took great pride |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | in his grandchildren, Kate and Stevie Gibson, and Lexi, Carson, and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | Jack Geyer; he never missed a sporting event, musical production, |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | birthday party, or graduation ceremony, and he enjoyed amusing them |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | with his technological gadgets; a true animal lover, he cared for |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | many dogs, cats, birds, and horses, among them his equine best |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | friend, Chico; he was a Texas history buff as well; and |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gibson will be deeply missed by all who were |

| 41 | 42 | | fortunate enough to know him, but they will continue to find |
|---|
| 42 | 43 | | inspiration in his warmth, compassion, and unfailing optimism; now, |

| 43 | 44 | | therefore, be it |

| 44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 45 | 46 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of R. Wayne Gibson and |

| 46 | 47 | | extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further |

| 47 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
