| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Gladys Genevieve Martindale of New Boston on March 25, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2017, at the age of 92; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of William Franklin and Nettie Hill, |

| 9 | 10 | | the former Gladys Hill was born on June 12, 1924, in Bloomburg; she |

| 10 | 11 | | wed Albert Martindale Jr. in 1944, and the couple went on to share a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | rewarding marriage that spanned more than three decades before Mr. |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Martindale's death in 1977; they were blessed with a daughter, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Melinda, and four sons, Butch, Jack, Pat, and Michael, and their |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | family later grew to include seven grandchildren, Gary, Amanda, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Chris, Laurinda, Jonathan, Joshua, and Joseph, as well as five |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The Martindales lived in Birmingham, Alabama, for a |

| 18 | 19 | | time, but eventually returned to New Boston; Mrs. Martindale's home |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | was always a welcoming place, where her children and their friends |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | would gather and often play a fierce game of Monopoly that lasted |

| 21 | 22 | | late into the night; in addition, this beloved woman was a longtime, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | active congregant of Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston; |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A friend to many and a stranger to none, Gladys |

| 25 | 26 | | Martindale touched countless lives with her warmth, her quick wit, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | and her joyous zest for life, and those fortunate enough to know her |

| 27 | 28 | | will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gladys Genevieve |

| 30 | 31 | | Martindale and extend heartfelt sympathy to her loved ones and |

| 31 | 32 | | friends; and, be it further |
