| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |

| 6 | 7 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |

| 7 | 8 | | of Raul M. Hinojosa of San Isidro, who passed away on September 12, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2016, at the age of 59; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born to Raul and Inez Hinojosa on May 11, 1957, in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Rio Grande City, Raul Hinojosa grew up with his siblings, Rosie, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Thalia, Cynthia, Ray Lino, Josie, and Griselda; he attended local |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | schools and went on to graduate from Texas A&M |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | University--Kingsville; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa enjoyed a successful career in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | education and taught at San Isidro High School for nearly three |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | decades before retiring; he dedicated himself to ranching and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | agricultural pursuits throughout his life and supported his |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | students through his role as an FFA sponsor, encouraging them to |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | participate in livestock shows, pursue scholarship opportunities, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and continue their studies; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Hinojosa served on the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | board of directors of the Starr County Youth Fair and as a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | fund-raising auctioneer for the Driscoll Children's Hospital; he |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | was a man of deep faith and gave generously of his time and talents |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | to the Knights of Columbus Padre Juan de la Costa Chapter No. 3919 |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | and to San Isidro Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | minister; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa married the former Viola Leal on July |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | 8, 1989, and the couple shared 27 years together; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, A true gentleman, Raul Hinojosa touched countless |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | lives with his humor, wisdom, and commitment to his principles, and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | he will forever be a source of inspiration for those he has left |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | behind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Raul M. Hinojosa and |

| 36 | 37 | | extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it |
