| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Robert Gene Brashear of Raymondville on April 27, 2017, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Louis Brashear and Lena McCormick, Robert |

| 9 | 10 | | Brashear was born in Elsa on July 11, 1946, and grew up with the |

| 10 | 11 | | companionship of three siblings, Janice, James, and Gale; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | enjoyed a fulfilling 37-year career as a middle school science |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | teacher in the Raymondville Independent School District until |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | retiring in the early 2000s, and he was active with the Association |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of Texas Professional Educators for more than three decades; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman as well, Mr. Brashear operated |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | an outfitting business, serving as a guide for skilled and novice |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | hunters and anglers alike; he was also a published author and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | photographer, and his award-winning circular, the South Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Outdoor Newsletter, featured hunting and fishing in Texas and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | northern Mexico; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brashear shared nearly half a century of |

| 22 | 23 | | marriage with his wife, the former Patricia Jo Simon, and over the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years, the couple were blessed with two children, Chrystl and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Cedric; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father and an inspiring |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | educator, Robert Brashear touched the hearts of countless people, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and memories of his generous spirit and caring nature will be |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | forever cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know |

| 29 | 30 | | him; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Gene Brashear |
