45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Robert Gene Brashear of Raymondville on April 27, 2017,
78 at the age of 70; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Louis Brashear and Lena McCormick, Robert
910 Brashear was born in Elsa on July 11, 1946, and grew up with the
1011 companionship of three siblings, Janice, James, and Gale; he
1112 enjoyed a fulfilling 37-year career as a middle school science
1213 teacher in the Raymondville Independent School District until
1314 retiring in the early 2000s, and he was active with the Association
1415 of Texas Professional Educators for more than three decades; and
1516 WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman as well, Mr. Brashear operated
1617 an outfitting business, serving as a guide for skilled and novice
1718 hunters and anglers alike; he was also a published author and
1819 photographer, and his award-winning circular, the South Texas
1920 Outdoor Newsletter, featured hunting and fishing in Texas and
2021 northern Mexico; and
2122 WHEREAS, Mr. Brashear shared nearly half a century of
2223 marriage with his wife, the former Patricia Jo Simon, and over the
2324 years, the couple were blessed with two children, Chrystl and
2425 Cedric; and
2526 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father and an inspiring
2627 educator, Robert Brashear touched the hearts of countless people,
2728 and memories of his generous spirit and caring nature will be
2829 forever cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know
2930 him; now, therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Gene Brashear
3233 and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his
3334 wife, Patricia Jo Brashear; to his children, Chrystl Grebo and her
3435 husband, Asim, and Cedric Brashear; to his honorary son, Matthew
3536 Tijerina; to his honorary granddaughters, Emily, Andreita, and
3637 Nicole Paz; to his sister, Gale Erbelding; to his brother-in-law,
3738 James Call; to his uncle, Truman Brashear, and his wife, Martha; and
3839 to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
4243 Brashear.
