| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, In facing her battle with cancer, Catherine Nance |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2015, Ms. Nance was diagnosed with stage four |

| 9 | 10 | | colon cancer; the discovery of her illness marked the beginning of |

| 10 | 11 | | an arduous course of treatment that has tested her limits |

| 11 | 12 | | physically and mentally; throughout this difficult time, she has |

| 12 | 13 | | been sustained by the support and encouragement of her husband, |

| 13 | 14 | | Scott, and she has given her all as mother to her two young |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Having initially been refused testing for colon |

| 16 | 17 | | cancer from doctors who believed she was too young to have the |

| 17 | 18 | | disease, Ms. Nance now serves as a passionate advocate for early |

| 18 | 19 | | screening; she has also made it her mission to speak out as a |

| 19 | 20 | | citizen on issues of vital concern and has traveled around the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | country in support of common-sense gun control measures; she has |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | lobbied, marched, and made phone calls to her representatives even |

| 22 | 23 | | while undergoing chemotherapy treatment, and she has instilled in |

| 23 | 24 | | her children an appreciation for the importance of voting and civic |
