| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | death of Hermann Buschor of Houston on September 1, 2016, at the age |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Buschor was born in Horgen, Switzerland, in |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | February 1936 and received a Catholic education at Kollegium Maria |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Hilf in the town of Schwyz; after graduating from Zurich Trade |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | School, he emigrated to the United States and studied financial |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | analysis and marketing at New York University; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He began his career by working in the transportation |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and fashion industries in New York, but he soon focused his |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | professional endeavors in the oil and gas industry, and over the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | years, his work took him all over the world, including to Russia, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Indonesia, Malaysia, Africa, and South America, as well as |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | throughout the United States and Canada; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A man beloved for his wise advice and moral support, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | he met the love of his life, Joan Chmiel, in New York; they enjoyed |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | their world travels before they came to Texas and settled in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Houston; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Buschor found pleasure in a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | number of pursuits, including tennis, oil painting, gardening, and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | reading, and he was the Commandery Receiver, Southwest, of the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem; he was |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | also a strong advocate for education and languages and worked to |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | foster good communication and understanding among all people; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Hermann Buschor is greatly missed, this |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | kind and generous man has left his family and friends with many |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | cherished memories, and he will forever hold a special place in |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Hermann Buschor and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | extend heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Joan Buschor, to the other |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | members of his family, and to his many friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Hermann |
