| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Communities In Schools of Texas has long made a |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Part of the nation's largest dropout prevention |

| 9 | 10 | | network, CIS of Texas was established in Houston in 1979, and |

| 10 | 11 | | through the years it has expanded to include 28 programs throughout |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the state that annually serve more than 93,000 at-risk youth in 942 |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | schools; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This notable organization works to create |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | partnerships with local school districts, businesses, and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | communities in an effort to provide critical services to students |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | at risk of dropping out; of the thousands of participants served by |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | CIS during the 2015-2016 school year, 92 percent improved classroom |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | behavior, 99 percent stayed in school, and 95 percent were promoted |

| 19 | 20 | | to the next grade; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Helping young Texans to prepare for successful |

| 21 | 22 | | futures, Communities In Schools of Texas is a program of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | immeasurable importance, and it is indeed appropriate to take this |

| 23 | 24 | | opportunity to commend the group for the support it provides to |
