 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Martha Gonzalez has made invaluable contributions
 to Wright Elementary School in San Antonio during her two and a half
 years as principal; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez was named to the position in January
 2015, and with the help of vice principal Victoria TreviƱo, she has
 worked to analyze student data and establish uniform grading
 standards; she also launched a number of initiatives designed to
 create a strong sense of community and to motivate both teachers and
 students to achieve a set of clearly defined goals; under her
 skilled guidance, the school's report card from the Texas Education
 Agency underwent a dramatic transformation; after receiving an
 "Improvement Required" rating and failing to meet standards on
 three of the agency's four performance indexes in 2014, Wright
 Elementary earned all six possible Distinction Designations in
 2016; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Laredo, Ms. Gonzalez has served the
 Harlandale Independent School District for more than 20 years,
 including tenures as a teacher and vice principal; she holds an
 undergraduate degree in education from The University of Texas at
 San Antonio and a master's degree in administration from Texas A&M
 University--Kingsville; and
 WHEREAS, Through her unwavering commitment to the students,
 faculty, and staff of Wright Elementary, Martha Gonzalez has helped
 foster a supportive and challenging educational environment, and in
 so doing, she has helped to equip her students with the skills they
 need to build fulfilling and productive lives; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Martha Gonzalez for her achievements as
 principal of Wright Elementary School and extend to her sincere
 best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
