| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Martha Gonzalez has made invaluable contributions |

| 6 | 7 | | to Wright Elementary School in San Antonio during her two and a half |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez was named to the position in January |

| 9 | 10 | | 2015, and with the help of vice principal Victoria Treviño, she has |

| 10 | 11 | | worked to analyze student data and establish uniform grading |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | standards; she also launched a number of initiatives designed to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | create a strong sense of community and to motivate both teachers and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | students to achieve a set of clearly defined goals; under her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | skilled guidance, the school's report card from the Texas Education |

| 15 | 16 | | Agency underwent a dramatic transformation; after receiving an |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | "Improvement Required" rating and failing to meet standards on |

| 17 | 18 | | three of the agency's four performance indexes in 2014, Wright |

| 18 | 19 | | Elementary earned all six possible Distinction Designations in |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A native of Laredo, Ms. Gonzalez has served the |

| 21 | 22 | | Harlandale Independent School District for more than 20 years, |

| 22 | 23 | | including tenures as a teacher and vice principal; she holds an |

| 23 | 24 | | undergraduate degree in education from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | San Antonio and a master's degree in administration from Texas A&M |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | University--Kingsville; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through her unwavering commitment to the students, |

| 27 | 28 | | faculty, and staff of Wright Elementary, Martha Gonzalez has helped |

| 28 | 29 | | foster a supportive and challenging educational environment, and in |

| 29 | 30 | | so doing, she has helped to equip her students with the skills they |

| 30 | 31 | | need to build fulfilling and productive lives; now, therefore, be |
