5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance and its |

7 | 8 | | to the well-being of countless Texans; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Street brought together a group of more than 40 |

9 | 10 | | local leaders to begin a conversation about the mental health of |
---|
10 | 11 | | Panhandle residents; on May 4, 2016, these dedicated men and women |
---|
11 | 12 | | launched the Amarillo Okay to Say campaign, part of a statewide |
---|
12 | 13 | | movement to increase awareness and share a message of hope and |
---|
13 | 14 | | recovery with those suffering from mental illnesses; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Following a comprehensive assessment by the Meadows |
---|
15 | 16 | | Mental Health Policy Institute, the Panhandle Behavioral Health |
---|
16 | 17 | | Alliance was officially established on February 15, 2017, with a |
---|
17 | 18 | | goal of creating a network of professionals to improve behavioral |
---|
18 | 19 | | health care for all people in the region; this same day was declared |
---|
19 | 20 | | Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance Day in Amarillo by Mayor Paul |
---|
20 | 21 | | Harpole, and the organization's leaders reintroduced the Amarillo |
---|
21 | 22 | | Okay to Say campaign; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance currently |

23 | 24 | | operates in 26 Texas counties; it draws on the collective efforts of |
---|
24 | 25 | | numerous organizations, companies, foundations, governmental |
---|
25 | 26 | | agencies, and medical entities, as well as individuals and families |
---|
26 | 27 | | affected by mental, behavioral, or addiction-related challenges; |
---|

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Panhandle Behavioral Health |

29 | 30 | | Alliance are working tirelessly to ensure that all of the region's |

30 | 31 | | residents have access to high-quality behavioral health care when |

31 | 32 | | and where they need it, and they are indeed deserving of recognition |
---|
32 | 33 | | at this time; now, therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor the Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance |
---|
35 | 36 | | for its efforts to enhance the region's mental health care system |

36 | 37 | | and commend Laura Street for her commitment to improving the |
---|
37 | 38 | | quality of life for residents of the Texas Panhandle; and, be it |
