45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Agapito
67 G. Hinojosa Sr. of Kingwood, who passed away on April 17, 2017, at
78 the age of 82; and
89 WHEREAS, Agapito Hinojosa was born in Beeville on May 31,
910 1934, to Agapito D. Hinojosa and Blanche Cantu; after graduating
1011 from Jefferson Davis High School, he earned his bachelor's and
1112 master's degrees from the University of Houston; and
1213 WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa and his wife, Jacqueline, were joined
1314 in matrimony in 1958, and they shared a rewarding marriage that
1415 spanned nearly six decades; he was a devoted father to his four
1516 children, Tonya, Jacka, Pete, and Alicia, and later in life, he was
1617 blessed with 13 grandchildren; and
1718 WHEREAS, For the first 13 years of his career, Mr. Hinojosa
1819 taught math and science and served as a coach at several schools in
1920 Houston, including Mt. Carmel High School, Edison Junior High,
2021 McReynolds Junior High, and San Jacinto High School; he also taught
2122 as an adjunct at North Harris Community College, and he went on to
2223 work for AAA for 25 years before retiring; and
2324 WHEREAS, Mr. Hinojosa was an active member of his community,
2425 and he enjoyed gardening, coaching youth basketball and football
2526 teams, and spending time with his family; and
2627 WHEREAS, Agapito Hinojosa lived a caring and purposeful life,
2728 and his loss is keenly felt by all who were touched by his affection
2829 and friendship; now, therefore, be it
2930 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3031 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Agapito G. Hinojosa
3132 Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to
3233 his wife, Jacqueline D. Hinojosa; to his children, Tonya May and her
3334 husband, George, Jacka Brandler and her husband, Eric, Pete
3435 Hinojosa and his wife, Wendy, and Alicia Creel and her husband, Tom;
3536 to his grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Christopher, Katherine,
3637 Samantha, Serena, Gabriella, Jacob, Jonah, Isabella, Andrew,
3738 Samuel, and Abigail; and to his other relatives and many friends;
3839 and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Agapito
4243 Hinojosa.
