| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Our esteemed colleague, the Honorable Toni Rose, is |

| 6 | 6 | | celebrating her 49th birthday on February 3, 2017; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1968, Toni Rose was first elected to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | represent Texas House District 110 in 2012; she has authored |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | legislation to improve senior access to transportation, children's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | health care, access to mental health services, and emergency |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | preparedness management; she has served as vice chair of the House |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Committee on Human Services, as a member of the Select Committees on |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Mental Health and Child Protection, and as a member of both the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Rules and Resolutions and Juvenile Justice and Family Issues |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Committees; in addition, she has served as secretary to the Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Legislative Black Caucus and as treasurer and deputy whip of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas House Democratic Caucus; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Representative Rose has benefited her fellow Dallas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | residents through her work on the Planning and Zoning Commission, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the Judicial Nominating Commission, the Martin Luther King Jr. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Community Center Board, and the North Central Texas Council of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Governments Executive Board; she has also given generously of her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | time and expertise as a member of the Moorland Branch YMCA Board, |

| 24 | 24 | | Dallas Development Board for Texan Can Academies, United Negro |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | College Fund North Texas Leadership Council, and the Dallas County |

| 26 | 26 | | Local Emergency Planning Committee; moreover, she has served in |

| 27 | 27 | | leadership roles with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and |

| 28 | 28 | | many other organizations; the recipient of numerous accolades, |

| 29 | 29 | | Representative Rose was honored in 2015 with both the Prism Award |

| 30 | 30 | | from Mental Health America of Greater Dallas and the Mental Health |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Advocate Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Dallas; |

| 32 | 32 | | she holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Paul Quinn |

| 33 | 33 | | College; and |

| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Toni Rose has earned the lasting respect and |

| 35 | 35 | | appreciation of her colleagues and fellow Texans, and it is indeed a |

| 36 | 36 | | pleasure to honor her on this joyous occasion; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Toni Rose on her 49th |

| 39 | 39 | | birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
