 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Our esteemed colleague, the Honorable Toni Rose, is
 celebrating her birthday on February 3, 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Toni Rose was first elected to represent Texas House
 District 110 in 2012; she has authored legislation to improve
 senior access to transportation, children's health care, access to
 mental health services, and emergency preparedness management; she
 has served as vice chair of the House Committee on Human Services,
 as a member of the Select Committees on Mental Health and Child
 Protection, and as a member of both the Rules and Resolutions and
 Juvenile Justice and Family Issues Committees; in addition, she has
 served as secretary to the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and as
 treasurer and deputy whip of the Texas House Democratic Caucus; and
 WHEREAS, Representative Rose has benefited her fellow Dallas
 residents through her work on the Planning and Zoning Commission,
 the Judicial Nominating Commission, the Martin Luther King Jr.
 Community Center Board, and the North Central Texas Council of
 Governments Executive Board; she has also given generously of her
 time and expertise as a member of the Moorland Branch YMCA Board,
 Dallas Development Board for Texan Can Academies, United Negro
 College Fund North Texas Leadership Council, and the Dallas County
 Local Emergency Planning Committee, Executive Board member of the
 National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women (NOBEL
 Women)serving as Financial Secretary; moreover, she has served in
 leadership roles with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated,
 which she is celebrating her 25th anniversary, and many other
 organizations; the recipient of numerous accolades, Representative
 Rose was honored in 2015 with both the Prism Award from Mental
 Health America of Greater Dallas and the Mental Health Advocate
 Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Dallas; she
 holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Paul Quinn
 College; and
 WHEREAS, Toni Rose has earned the lasting respect and
 appreciation of her colleagues and fellow Texans, and it is indeed a
 pleasure to honor her on this joyous occasion; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Toni Rose on her
 birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
 happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Representative Rose as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
