H.R. No. 302
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Pastor Danny Biddy of Old River Baptist Church
retired on January 29, 2017, concluding 40 years of dedicated
service to that congregation; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of East Texas Baptist University and
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Pastor Biddy assumed
the pulpit of Old River Baptist in 1977, and throughout his tenure
there, he has enriched the lives not only of his flock but also of
residents in the Old River-Winfree area at large; his ministry has
included a weekly radio program and podcast, Sharpening Our Souls,
and a weekly column, "Little Biddy Bits," which has been serialized
online and in several local newspapers; in 2013, during the 83rd
Legislative Session, he was invited to the Capitol to give the
invocation in the House of Representatives and also in the Senate;
and
WHEREAS, Pastor Biddy's commitment to his community has been
evidenced through his disaster assistance volunteer work with the
local Red Cross chapter, notably in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike
and the Bear Creek fire, when he guided both the relief and
restoration efforts; he is a member of the Chambers County Fair
Housing Workgroup, and he freely gives of his time to support the
Barbers Hill and Anahuac Independent School Districts; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Pastor Biddy enjoys the love
and support of a fine family that includes his wife, Dana, their two
sons, Jeff and his wife, Amy, and Mark and his wife, Jennifer, and
five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has led Old River Baptist
Church with conviction and compassion, and he has earned the
lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as well as
members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Pastor Danny Biddy on his retirement after
40 years of outstanding service to Old River Baptist Church and
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Pastor Biddy as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
