| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Danny Biddy of Old River Baptist Church |

| 6 | 7 | | retired on January 29, 2017, concluding 40 years of dedicated |

| 7 | 8 | | service to that congregation; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of East Texas Baptist University and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Pastor Biddy assumed |

| 10 | 11 | | the pulpit of Old River Baptist in 1977, and throughout his tenure |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | there, he has enriched the lives not only of his flock but also of |

| 12 | 13 | | residents in the Old River-Winfree area at large; his ministry has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | included a weekly radio program and podcast, Sharpening Our Souls, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and a weekly column, "Little Biddy Bits," which has been serialized |

| 15 | 16 | | online and in several local newspapers; in 2013, during the 83rd |

| 16 | 17 | | Legislative Session, he was invited to the Capitol to give the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | invocation in the House of Representatives and also in the Senate; |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Biddy's commitment to his community has been |

| 20 | 21 | | evidenced through his disaster assistance volunteer work with the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | local Red Cross chapter, notably in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and the Bear Creek fire, when he guided both the relief and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | restoration efforts; he is a member of the Chambers County Fair |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Housing Workgroup, and he freely gives of his time to support the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Barbers Hill and Anahuac Independent School Districts; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Pastor Biddy enjoys the love |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | and support of a fine family that includes his wife, Dana, their two |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | sons, Jeff and his wife, Amy, and Mark and his wife, Jennifer, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | five grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has led Old River Baptist |

| 31 | 32 | | Church with conviction and compassion, and he has earned the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as well as |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Pastor Danny Biddy on his retirement after |

| 36 | 37 | | 40 years of outstanding service to Old River Baptist Church and |

| 37 | 38 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
