No. 304 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Terry Petteway has concluded his service as constable for Galveston County Precinct 2, bringing to a close a distinguished tenure that spanned nearly a quarter century; and WHEREAS, Mr. Petteway began his career with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office as a jailer and went on to work in the patrol and warrants divisions; he was first elected constable for Precinct 2 in 1992, and his outstanding efforts garnered him the respect of his colleagues and the loyalty of voters, who returned him to office in each subsequent election; and WHEREAS, A role model in his community, Constable Petteway has given generously of his time and energies to the local Boys & Girls Club; there, he has coached and mentored thousands of young athletes over the years, and a number of them have gone on to enjoy careers in professional sports; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Constable Petteway was supported by his wife of more than three decades, Joetta, before her passing in 2015; he takes tremendous pride in his three sons, Terrell, Tavoir, and Terran, who share his love of basketball; and WHEREAS, Terry Petteway's dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public safety have greatly benefited the citizens of Galveston County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Terry Petteway on his retirement as constable for Galveston County Precinct 2 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Constable Petteway as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
