| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Terry Petteway has concluded his service as |

| 6 | 7 | | constable for Galveston County Precinct 2, bringing to a close a |

| 7 | 8 | | distinguished tenure that spanned nearly a quarter century; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Petteway began his career with the Galveston |

| 9 | 10 | | County Sheriff's Office as a jailer and went on to work in the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | patrol and warrants divisions; he was first elected constable for |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Precinct 2 in 1992, and his outstanding efforts garnered him the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | respect of his colleagues and the loyalty of voters, who returned |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | him to office in each subsequent election; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A role model in his community, Constable Petteway |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | has given generously of his time and energies to the local Boys & |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Girls Club; there, he has coached and mentored thousands of young |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | athletes over the years, and a number of them have gone on to enjoy |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | careers in professional sports; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Constable Petteway was |

| 20 | 21 | | supported by his wife of more than three decades, Joetta, before her |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | passing in 2015; he takes tremendous pride in his three sons, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Terrell, Tavoir, and Terran, who share his love of basketball; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Terry Petteway's dedication, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | commitment to public safety have greatly benefited the citizens of |

| 25 | 26 | | Galveston County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |
