| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Run, Ride & Share Day on February |

| 6 | 7 | | 7, 2017, provides a fitting opportunity for citizens across the |

| 7 | 8 | | state to acknowledge the importance of safety on our roadways; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Run, Ride & Share began in April 2014 in McAllen as |

| 9 | 10 | | an awareness campaign to encourage runners, cyclists, and motorists |

| 10 | 11 | | to safely share the city's streets and highways; in the years since |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | its inception, the program has expanded to reach surrounding Texas |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | communities with this important message; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Through education in local schools, the placement of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | emergency call boxes on hike-and-bike trails, and the distribution |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of informational material, Run, Ride & Share has provided citizens |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | with a range of lifesaving tools; the campaign also hosts the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | international Ride of Silence event each year to reaffirm cyclists' |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | rights to public roadways and to honor cyclists who have been killed |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | or injured; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The notable achievements and ongoing efforts of this |

| 21 | 22 | | outstanding campaign have made the roadways of the Lone Star State |

| 22 | 23 | | safer places for all Texans, and it is a pleasure to join in |

| 23 | 24 | | supporting this worthy cause; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
