| 7 | 8 | | celebrate Blue and White Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1914, Phi Beta Sigma was established at Howard |

| 9 | 10 | | University, and six years later, Zeta Phi Beta was formed with the |

| 10 | 11 | | fraternity's assistance; the two organizations are |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | constitutionally bound and enjoy a mutually supportive |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | relationship; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma now has more than 290,000 lifetime |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | members in the United States and beyond; over the years, the group |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | has expanded its service mission by creating the Phi Beta Sigma |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | National Foundation, the Phi Beta Sigma Federal Credit Union, and |

| 17 | 18 | | the Sigma Beta Club Foundation; members also sponsor international |

| 18 | 19 | | programs focusing on education, business development, and social |

| 19 | 20 | | action, and in response to former president Barack Obama's My |

| 20 | 21 | | Brother's Keeper initiative, they adopted a 10-point action plan to |

|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Zeta Phi Beta is dedicated to improving the human |

| 23 | 24 | | condition both at home and abroad; it was the first National |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Pan-Hellenic Council organization to charter a chapter in Africa, |

| 25 | 26 | | and it now has a membership of over 125,000 in hundreds of chapters |

| 26 | 27 | | around the world; since its inception, its members have worked to |

| 27 | 28 | | transform their communities through volunteerism, and they have |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | advocated powerfully for social and civic progress; through its |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | National Educational Foundation, the group awards scholarships, |

| 30 | 31 | | conducts community education and training programs, and supports |
|---|

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, A joint effort of Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta, |
