| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Donald Herbert Metch of Canton was honored with the |

| 6 | 7 | | 2016 Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer Award for District 5 at the |

| 7 | 8 | | organization's annual meeting in San Antonio; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious award is given to |

| 9 | 10 | | individuals from each of TFB's 13 districts for their outstanding |

| 10 | 11 | | contributions to the Farm Bureau and to agricultural initiatives; |

|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Metch joined the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | 1982 and has since served as secretary for the county's board of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | directors, volunteered with the association's Planet Agriculture |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | exhibit at the State Fair of Texas, and encouraged political |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | education and advocacy through his involvement with the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | organization's forums, debates, and political candidate events; |
|---|

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A farmer and rancher by trade, Mr. Metch has been |

| 20 | 21 | | named a Van Zandt County Agriculturalist of the Year, and he has |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | received recognition as a top hay and beef producer; over the years |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | he has been active in such organizations as the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Nurserymen, Texas Polled Hereford Association, and 4-H; he has also |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | served his community as a volunteer firefighter, and he is a valued |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | member of Four Mile Lutheran Church; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Donald Metch has dedicated many years to the growth |

| 27 | 28 | | and sustainment of the state's agricultural industry and to the Van |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Zandt County community at large, and he may surely reflect with |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | pride on these notable achievements; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Donald Herbert Metch on his receipt |
