| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Carson Brown and Stella Oliver, from Panhandle High |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, More than 9,000 students from across the state |

| 9 | 10 | | auditioned for a chair in one of the three ATSSB All-State |

| 10 | 11 | | ensembles, and only 295 students made the final cut; those selected |

| 11 | 12 | | have been invited to attend the annual Texas Music Educators |

| 12 | 13 | | Association convention in San Antonio, where they will participate |

| 13 | 14 | | in three days of intense rehearsals and perform a concert under the |

| 14 | 15 | | direction of a nationally recognized conductor; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown, a senior trombonist, and Ms. Oliver, a |

| 16 | 17 | | junior percussionist, demonstrated exceptional talent and |

| 17 | 18 | | technical facility throughout the audition process, which involved |

| 18 | 19 | | tryouts at the regional and then the area level; they have been |

| 19 | 20 | | guided in their musical education by Panhandle High School band |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | director Kyle McDonald and associate director Jacob Summersgill; |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The hard work and ability of these gifted young |

| 23 | 24 | | Texans have placed them among the state's elite high school |

| 24 | 25 | | musicians, and they may indeed take great pride in their |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
