| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Computer Education Association |

| 6 | 7 | | are gathering in Austin from February 6 through 10, 2017, for the |

| 7 | 8 | | 37th annual TCEA Convention and Exposition; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1980, TCEA is dedicated to improving |

| 9 | 10 | | teaching and learning through the integration of technology into |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | prekindergarten through 12th-grade classes; its membership |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | includes administrators, teachers, students, and community leaders |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | who are united by their shared purpose; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, TCEA contributes to Texas education by advocating |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | for policies that support teachers and administrators; it offers |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | many professional development courses for educators as well as |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | scholarships for students pursuing a career in higher education; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Technology is of ever-increasing importance to |

| 19 | 20 | | students in this information age, and the efforts of TCEA help to |

| 20 | 21 | | ensure that young Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary |

| 21 | 22 | | to build a brighter future; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 23 | 24 | | Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Computer Education |

| 24 | 25 | | Association and extend to its members sincere wishes for continued |

| 25 | 26 | | success with their important work; and, be it further |
