| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Brandon Taylor, a junior at Rockwall High School, |

| 7 | 8 | | recognition of his efforts to promote interest in STEM fields; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The President's Volunteer Service Award celebrates |

| 9 | 10 | | individuals who have given generously of their time and talents to |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | improve their communities and enhance quality of life for their |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | fellow citizens; recipients must perform more than 250 hours of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | service within a 12-month period; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, While Mr. Taylor participated in several charitable |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | programs, he earned the majority of his hours by sharing his passion |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | for robotics with area elementary and middle school students; a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | member of the Rockwall High robotics team, he volunteered as a judge |

| 17 | 18 | | for local competitions and took part in summer camps through the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | YMCA and ROCK; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated |

| 20 | 21 | | remarkable initiative and dedication, and he is a source of great |

| 21 | 22 | | pride to his school and his community; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 23 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Brandon Taylor on his receipt of |
