| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Casa Morales of Lufkin is celebrating its 45th |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, In the spring of 1972, a longtime dream of Juanita |

| 8 | 9 | | Aguilar became a reality with the opening of her first restaurant, |

| 9 | 10 | | Morales Mexican Food, which operated out of a local motel before |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | moving into its current building on South First Street; the success |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | of the flagship business led to the establishment of a second |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | location, in the Redland area, in 1984, at which point Ms. Aguilar |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | renamed the company Casa Morales; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The popularity of the Casa Morales storefronts led |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | to the launch of Casa Morales Gourmet Restaurant Salsa in 2014, and |

| 16 | 17 | | the product is now carried in stores across East Texas, Nashville, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Tennessee, and Oxford, Mississippi, and has shipped as far away as |

| 18 | 19 | | Florida, New York, Hawaii, Alaska, and Spain; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Much of the success of Casa Morales can be |

| 20 | 21 | | attributed to Ms. Aguilar, who has worked with tireless devotion to |

| 21 | 22 | | build, maintain, and grow the business, all the while faithfully |

| 22 | 23 | | serving the Lufkin community and earning the loyalty of her |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | employees; she is also involved in civic activities through |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | volunteer work with the Texas Citizenship Education Project, the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Latinos of East Texas, and the League of United Latin American |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Citizens; her numerous accomplishments have earned her the "Lady of |

| 28 | 29 | | Distinction" award from her Catholic diocese, as well as three |

| 29 | 30 | | international awards for the Casa Morales brand; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Casa Morales has become a staple of the Lufkin |

| 31 | 32 | | community over the past four and a half decades, and it is a |

| 32 | 33 | | pleasure to recognize Juanita Aguilar and the reputation for |

| 33 | 34 | | excellence that her business has achieved; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Casa Morales on its 45th |

| 36 | 37 | | anniversary and extend to Juanita Aguilar, along with the company's |
