R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The annual Q'ing for Vision BBQ Cookoff presented by
the Weslaco Mid Valley Lions Club offers residents and visitors the
opportunity to sample some great barbecue while benefiting a worthy
cause; and
WHEREAS, An International Barbeque Cookers Association
sanctioned event, the Q'ing for Vision BBQ Cookoff is a festive
combination of food, music, and lively competition; proceeds from
the contest are contributed to the Lions Club Sight Programs, to the
Texas Lions Camp, which provides camping experiences at no charge
to children with medical conditions, and to a scholarship fund for
local youth; and
WHEREAS, The event features talented barbecue chefs from
across the state who match their skills in preparing the tastiest
fajitas, pan de campo, beans, and margaritas; cash prizes are
awarded to the first-place through eighth-place finishers in each
category, as contestants vie for a share of thousands of dollars in
total winnings; and
WHEREAS, An exciting time for young and old alike, the Q'ing
for Vision BBQ Cookoff is a much-anticipated gathering for
residents of South Texas, and this special celebration of Lone
Star-style food and music is indeed deserving of special
recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize the annual Weslaco Mid Valley Lions
Club Q'ing for Vision BBQ Cookoff and extend to the cookoff's
organizers, participants, and guests sincere best wishes for an
enjoyable and memorable event.
