5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bobby G. Littlefield Jr. is retiring from the Texas |

6 | 7 | | Department of Transportation on February 28, 2017, drawing to a |

7 | 8 | | close an exemplary tenure with the agency that has spanned more than |

8 | 9 | | three decades; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, While earning his bachelor's degree in civil |
---|
10 | 11 | | engineering from Texas A&M University, Mr. Littlefield worked for |
---|
11 | 12 | | TxDOT as a summer engineer aide in his hometown of Sulphur Springs; |
---|
12 | 13 | | after completing his degree, he became the engineering assistant at |
---|
13 | 14 | | the Sulphur Springs Area Office, and he was promoted to assistant |
---|
14 | 15 | | area engineer upon receiving his professional engineering license |
---|
15 | 16 | | in 1989; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Littlefield spent 10 years as the Sherman area |
---|
17 | 18 | | engineer and 9 years as the Paris district engineer before being |
---|
18 | 19 | | named the Waco district engineer in January 2013; in that role, he |
---|
19 | 20 | | has overseen more than 300 employees and a highway network of over |
---|
20 | 21 | | 7,800 miles across eight counties; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, During his distinguished career with TxDOT, |
---|
22 | 23 | | Mr. Littlefield served as the rural district franchise lead in |
---|
23 | 24 | | 2012, and he was honored with the agency's 2003 DeWitt C. Greer |
---|
24 | 25 | | Award in recognition of his outstanding service to the State of |
---|
25 | 26 | | Texas; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Littlefield's commitment to the highest |
---|
27 | 28 | | standards of his profession has greatly benefited the work of the |
---|
28 | 29 | | Texas Department of Transportation, and he may indeed reflect with |
---|
29 | 30 | | pride on his impressive record of achievement; now, therefore, be |
---|

31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby G. Littlefield Jr. on his |

34 | 35 | | Transportation and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
