| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Larry Davis, athletic director for the DeSoto |

| 6 | 7 | | Independent School District, is visiting the State Capitol on |

| 7 | 8 | | February 15, 2017, and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | to recognize his 26-year tenure with the district; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After earning a bachelor's degree from Central State |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | University, Larry Davis went on to receive a master of education |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | degree from Texas A&M University--Commerce; he began his career |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | with DeSoto ISD in August 1991 as a teacher at DeSoto High School |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and as a member of the football, basketball, and baseball coaching |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | staffs; over the next 22 years, he served the district as assistant |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | principal at West Junior High, principal at Meadows Intermediate |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | School, director of administrative services, and executive |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | director of human resources; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was named athletic director in 2013, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | under his outstanding leadership, the Eagles have achieved |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | tremendous athletic success; they made history in 2016, when the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | DeSoto High School boys' basketball, football, and boys' and girls' |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | track teams each claimed University Interscholastic League state |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | championship titles; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In addition to managing his myriad professional |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | responsibilities, Mr. Davis has shared his time and talents with |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the community as a representative of Southwest Dallas County for |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Leadership Southwest and as a board member for the DeSoto Parks and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Recreation strategic planning committee, the DeSoto Youth Baseball |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Association, and the DeSoto Youth Basketball Association; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | support of his wife, Traci, and their two children; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, For more than two decades, the students, faculty, |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | staff, and administration of the DeSoto Independent School District |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | have benefited greatly from Larry Davis's hard work and dedication, |

| 35 | 36 | | and he may indeed take pride in his many achievements; now, |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby recognize Larry Davis for his service to the |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | DeSoto Independent School District and extend to him best wishes |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | for continued success; and, be it further |

| 41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
