| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Bursons are also believed to be the first |

| 9 | 10 | | brothers to serve as Rangers at the same time since the legendary |

| 10 | 11 | | Frank Hamer and three of his brothers, Estill, Harrison, and |

| 11 | 12 | | Flavious, served together in the early decades of the 20th century; |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The sons of James Burson, a former Department of |

| 14 | 15 | | Public Safety trooper and assistant chief of police in McGregor, |

| 15 | 16 | | Jake and Josh Burson had both wanted to pursue careers in law |

| 16 | 17 | | enforcement since childhood; they each graduated from McGregor High |

| 17 | 18 | | School and went on to attend McLennan Community College in Waco; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Josh Burson, the younger brother, began training at |

| 19 | 20 | | the DPS Academy in September 2001, while his older brother, Jake, |

| 20 | 21 | | entered the academy in January 2002, and at their respective |

| 21 | 22 | | graduations, their father pinned on their DPS badges; Jake Burson |

| 22 | 23 | | began his career with the Highway Patrol, first in Cleburne and then |

| 23 | 24 | | in Waco, before earning a promotion to the Criminal Investigations |

| 24 | 25 | | Division in 2007; Josh Burson also started with the Highway Patrol, |

| 25 | 26 | | first in Corsicana and then in Colorado City, and in 2008, he too |

| 26 | 27 | | joined the CID; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Each brother aspired to become a Texas Ranger, an |

| 28 | 29 | | elite group composed of fewer than 200 officers, but positions only |

| 29 | 30 | | open up when a veteran Ranger retires; Jake Burson was the first to |

| 30 | 31 | | secure a coveted position on the force, winning a place in 2010, |

| 31 | 32 | | while his brother, Josh, joined him there four years later; they |

| 32 | 33 | | have since served as proud members of the oldest law enforcement |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Throughout their careers, Jake and Josh Burson's |
