| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, David Carr is retiring as superintendent of the |

| 6 | 7 | | Stanton Independent School District on August 31, 2017, drawing to |

| 7 | 8 | | a close an outstanding tenure in that position that has spanned 15 |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | years; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Monahans High School, Mr. Carr earned |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a master's degree |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in education from Wayland Baptist University; in the course of his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | three and a half decades as an educator, he has taught and coached |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in the Kermit and Floydada school districts and served as athletic |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | director, head football coach, and principal in the Ralls district; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | moreover, he was principal of Stanton High School for two years |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | before becoming superintendent of Stanton ISD; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Carr was named the 2015 Region 18 Superintendent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of the Year in recognition of his tireless efforts to ensure the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | best possible instruction and resources for the pupils in his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | district; he has also been honored with the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | of Excellence and the Man of the Year Award from the Ralls Chamber |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | of Commerce; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Carr enjoys the support of |

| 24 | 25 | | a loving family that includes his wife, Sheri Carr, and his two |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | daughters, Heather and Traci Carr; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through his unwavering commitment to the students, |

| 27 | 28 | | faculty, and staff of Stanton ISD, David Carr has led the way in |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | fostering a nurturing and challenging educational environment, and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | he may indeed reflect with pride on his exceptional record of |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | achievement as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
